So i'm back from Indiana and the farm and Chicago etc. The wedding was hella interesting. i can't believe to start to tell y'all the kind of conversations i had with drunk mid-westerners. it's its own socio-cultural anthropological study, especially when one considers i'm in the middle of reading Cornel West's work.

i also featured at the Green Mill in Chicago on Sunday evening and had two of the hugest steak burritos to close the night off. that'll have to be an extra half hour on the treadmill... talk to you all again soon...

Roger,
check this shit out:
I MET CORNEL WEST in Sarasota in spring 2001. He was giving a lecture at my college and then also the commencement address later the same day. During the lecture, he took questions from the audience, and people lined up behind microphones in the auditorium to entertain different concepts ranging from art to Al Sharpton. I had a question, but I felt awkward waiting my turn, so I went to sit where I felt most comfortable: RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE STAGE on the floor. Needless to say, as soon as he finished speaking, I ran to the stage to beat the crowd of hand shake enthusiasts. Now I had my chance, and I wanted an ANSWER:
I said: "Dr. West, I have a question to ask, but I didn't want to embarass you in front of all these people. If you were a super-hero, what would your favorite super-power be?"

He didn't pause or blink and eye, but looked at me directly and replied: "To spread love everywhere."

And now: two questions for you

1. Hurricane Jeanne or Hurricane Ivan?

2. If YOU were a super-hero, what would YOUR favorite power be?

(I'm the short round girl with glasses from FL, and by the way, my house has survived TWO eyewalls in the last month, and its fine)
